Self Erasing Hard Drive

Finally, I get to make a blog post which is actually geek related and doesn't contain a Youtube video. Toshiba have made a hard drive which automatically wipes itself when it's put into a different machine.

"The SED performs a cryptographic erase on itself. Unlike a regular erase which overwrites data several times to obliterate it, a crypto erase actually just nukes the crypto keys. Data on the dive is encrypted using a 256-bit AES algorithm, and is unencrypted on the fly during normal use. Once the drive detects that it isn’t in its usual machine, it destroys its keys, making the data impossible to decipher."

Of course, this is good news for people like you and me, when it's placed into a different machine all the data will be permanently encrypted and unreadable.

The World's Biggest Pac-Man

I'm guessing you're in either of the two following locations, at home or at work. If you're at home, you may aswell disregard this post, but if you're at work, read on.

This is "The World's Biggest Pac-Man", which is made from user generated levels. I was disappointed when I first saw this website, I didn't see any levels which had swear words or penises, which is unlike the internet - but nevertheless it still beats writing documents.

Radiation Dosage Chart

Now, I know this isn't really that geek-related, but did you know that if you ate 1,000,000 bananas you would die of radiation poisoning? Of course that's if you could eat that many bananas without giving up or vomitting so much you died, but that isn't the point.

This chart explains the different amounts of radiation given off from different objects, including bananas, plane journeys and more. I also read on a different chart that sleeping next to another person gives you half the amount of radiation that a banana does, so make sure you stay on the safe side and do what I do, sleep alone and have no human interaction, especially with females.

Interactive L4D Story

Another interactive Youtube video, which I thought was atleast worthy of mention because it has zombies. But aside from the terrible acting and shitty blood effects (not literally), it has some entertaining qualities. Such as watching them be eaten.

(Protip: Don't choose Davis)
